Mainstreaming Advocacy &Trainings:

Since, HIV prevention requires a concerted collaborative effort from all organisations in public life through their work and programmes. This integrated, inclusive and multi-sectoral approach transfers the ownership of HIV/AIDS issues with direct response to various stakeholders, including the Government, the Corporate sector and Civil Society Organizations.

Engagement of Government Departments for roll-out of MoUs:

Implementation of activities as provisioned in the MoU signed by NACO with various Ministries at National level, the Pondicherry AIDS Control Society engages with various Govt. Departments, collaborates with various Public sectors units, Department of Labour & Employment and engages Employer Organizations, Chamber of Commerce, Faith Based Organizations (FBOs), NGOs and CBOs that have been clubbed together and formed Joint Working Groups (JWGs) for multi-sectoral response of HIV in all four regions of Puducherry.

PACS conducts regular advocacy meetings with JWGs for Youth, FBO and Electronics, IT & Telecommunications to promote awareness through inclusion of HIV awareness activities with Departments/Institutions and links the welfare measures for the benefit of PLHIVs and HRGs.

Further, regular advocacy meeting have been conducted, these activities have been detailed below:

1. State Council on AIDS (SCA) & Legislative Forum on AIDS (LFA)
2. Interdepartmental Coordination Committee meeting
3. District/State consultation meetings on World of Work, Social Protection for children and adolescents infected and affected with HIV, Third Gender.
4. Advocacy with ADRM -TPJ division, Station Superintendent of Puducherry Railway Station and officials of various departments viz.  SSE/C&W, CBSR & CRS, CPSR, HI, IPF, Tech/Elec., MCM/TL, CTTL and with Officials of Pondicherry-Tindivanam Tollway Limited (PTTL) – NHAI.
5. Meeting with Tobacco, TB control programme, NHM, RKSK programme for convergence and coordination with Health & Wellness Programme and to strengthen the Adolescent Education Programme.
6. Sensitization training for the unorganized labourers and other construction workers unions /associations.
7. Department level meeting at Rural Development -DRDA, Social Welfare, Women & Child- UTPCPS, Child Welfare Centres (Intra-department meeting.
8. ToT for Resource Pool: Proposed to be conduct of ToT for the Representatives of Counsellors, Communities like HRGs, PLHIV, etc.
9. Orientation program for Village-Level Entrepreneurs (VLE) of Common Service Centre (CSC) under Puducherry E-governance Society (Dept. IT), Community Professionals/SHG leaders, TB Officials was done
10. Review meeting with Puducherry Tindivanam Tollway Ltd., (PTTL) and advocacy meeting with Advocates and Para Legal Volunteers of district court at Yanam region.
11. Re-orientation of the Officials/Staffs of GAIL India, ONGC- Cauvery Asset and Puducherry Power Corporation Ltd, in respect of Karaikal region was conducted.
12. Conducted the HIV/AIDS awareness program for the Migrant Workers was conducted during the Occupational Safety week celebration and sensitization training programme for the Transgender SHG members who are registered DRDA under PSRLM in respect of Ariyankukppam Block was conducted.
